Family Coalition

Pull Quote - CoalitionThe Family Coalition is Richard Berman’s most mysterious group. It incorporated as a 501(c)(6) organization in 2001, and appears to exist solely to funnel money to other Berman non-profits.

FC has no public profile and the only activities it reported to the IRS in its past three years of filings are grants to Berman’s Enterprise Freedom Action Committee and Employment Policies Institute in order to oppose health care reform.

On its 2009 990 form, the only activity FC described itself as pursuing was participating in the “health care debate because it affected the choices available to employees and their families.” It directed two separate $1 million grants to the EFAC that year. In 2010, FC directed an additional $500,000 to EFAC and $1.24 million to EPI.
